April Break Is Next Week. See you on April 25th!

That Time Of Year, 2026/27 Class Suggestions

While we still have time to enjoy this school year and all of the excitement at the end of it, we also start preparing for the upcoming school year. One of our primary goals is to create balanced, vibrant classrooms where every child can thrive. Crafting these class lists is always a challenge. We consider academic needs, social dynamics, and learning styles when trying to divide our kiddos. We believe that a well-placed student is one who feels both challenged and comfortable, and your insights as parents are an important part of this process.

While we do not take specific requests for individual teachers, we highly value your perspective on your child’s learning profile. If there are specific environmental factors that help your child succeed, such as a need for structured routines or a benefit from sitting near the front of the room, please let us know. Understanding how your child processes information and interacts with their surroundings helps us match them with the teaching style that best suits their needs.

Additionally, we recognize that relationships play a significant role in a student's emotional well-being. We invite you to share information regarding peers, including specific classmates who bring out the best in your child or those with whom they might struggle to stay focused. Our staff will use this information, alongside our own observations, to build classrooms that foster positive social growth and minimize distractions.

Please email Mr. North (nnorth@awrsd.org) with any information you would like to share. We would need this information by May 4th to make sure we can include your input when crafting the first draft of the lists.

ELA MCAS Is Complete- Now We Look To Math and Science

The kids did a great job focusing on the ELA MCAS over the past few weeks. When we come back from break, we will turn our attention to Math, Science, and Technology. We are mixing it up this year, with our Science taking place first for the 5th grade. The grades 5, 4, and 3 will have a few days each of Math. As always, we would ask that you do your best to make the following happen:

- Get a good night's rest.

- Eat a healthy breakfast at home if possible.

- Bring a good snack for the break during testing.

- Try your best. We love to show how much you have learned to the rest of the state!

Some Outdoor Classroom Reminders For Grade 5

The Fifth Grade Team is reminding everyone to be aware that pages 5-9 of the Family Packet are due back to school by 4/17. We certainly encourage you to return them earlier, but the 17th is our last day to take pages 5-9. In addition, please note that the invoices are due 4/17 as well. Please reach out to us if there is anything we need to update/know about your student's attendance on the trip.

Kindergarten Registration is Open- And Look For An Email About Screening Soon!

Kindergarten planning is off and running. We have gotten registration letters to those that we know of. Starting the registration early helps us get ready for Screening that takes place during the mornings of the week of May 18th. If you haven't gotten a letter for registration and think you should have, or know of someone who needs one, please email jrboffice@awrsd.org so we can get the information they need to them. Scan the UPDATED QR Code to register for Kindergarten now.
